IU:- Why would they need illegal ROM's off the net? Surely practically all
IU:- users of this emulator would be people who already own an Amiga, and
IU:- therefore have access to their own ROM? Or are we envisioning a great
IU:- resurgence , where other OS users would suddenly want to use an Amiga?
Surprisingly YES :-)
At the Melbourne Australian Comdex IT-Expo we tested the waters on Amithlon
purchases and we could have sold around 200 copies (although we envisioned
a not quite as steep price). Most of these people who wanted to buy were
previous Amiga owners or people who still had Amigas and wanted a faster
solution based on the more modern Amiga (gfx card, sound card etc.)
Once you've seen Amithlon in action.... well, I'll certainly buy a copy.
And I don't even own a PC. I'll still go the AmigaOne route as well but
with the Elbox Shark solution as I already have a Mediator board. That way
I can have a super fast 68k based machine (Amithlon) real cheap and I can
still upgrade my A1200 to a PPC. The Amithlon solution is perfect for
those whose Amiga has died and have since found themselves with a PC.
Our user group has an mpeg of Bernie giving an extensive talk and
demonstration of Amithlon. We are in the process of converting it to a
format that MooViD can play where upon it will be uploaded to Aminet for
everyone to see with their own eyes.
